Our Story

Paws and Claws in Berks began as a budding organization in 2022, but we (Augustine Family) have been fostering since 2016. It began when we were camping at Lake Nockamixon, in Bucks County, PA. We came across a large colony of feral cats and kittens. Due to local endangered species, these cats were in danger of being euthanized. We caught the kittens we could and called for help. It took several phone calls but American Humane and Greater Good came to the rescue. We had no idea what we were doing with kittens but were lucky to find The Kitten Lady and The Vet on Main. We have since dove head-first into the rescue world and learned to TNR and foster neonatal kittens along with all that entails, like bottle feeding, and even learning tube-feeding. Since, we have worked with a few rescues and The Humane Society fostering both felines and canines. Our goal is to become a nonprofit ourselves and continue to address the problem of overpopulation locally through TNR.
